Alexander Mauz served as Chairman of Pro Peace until March 2026. He continues to serve as a representative of the Civil Peace Service (ZFD) on the Advisory Board and has worked for many years in the fields of peacebuilding and conflict transformation, development cooperation, and humanitarian aid. He was appointed to the Advisory Board in 2025.

He studied International Social Work and Peace Studies and has worked for various organizations in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, Central America, and the Caribbean. His expertise includes the development and implementation of programs for civil conflict management by civil society actors who advocate for peace, nonviolence, and sustainable peace policies in conflict situations. His focus lies on the localization of international cooperation and the critical examination of power asymmetries.

As a member of the Advisory Board for Civilian Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding, he brings his extensive experience to advising the German government.
