Dr Jan Woischnik

Dr Jan Woischnik has been head of the Latin America department at the Berlin headquarters of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) since 1 October 2019. He holds a doctorate in law and has been working for the foundation since 2001, spending a total of 13 years as head of its overseas offices in Brazil, Indonesia/East Timor and Uruguay and as head of the transnational rule of law programme for Latin America. He also spent five years in the Europe/North America department, where he was responsible for South-Eastern Europe.
At the beginning of his professional career, Jan Woischnik was a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg for four years from 1996 to 1999. In 2000, the Foreign Office sent him to the Human Rights Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo as an international lawyer.
