Major General (ret.) Stefan Schulz is the former Deputy Head of the Policy Directorate at the German Federal Ministry of Defence. Since July 2026, he has been a member of the Advisory Board.

Major General (ret.) Stefan Schulz brings 44 years of military service and extensive national and international experience, particularly in the fields of security and defence policy. In addition to serving at the German Federal Ministry of Defence, he held several NATO assignments, served as Head of Division at the German Federal Chancellery, and as Director of a Directorate at Germany’s Permanent Delegation to NATO. In these roles, he gained extensive experience in international cooperation, interministerial coordination, civil-military cooperation, and the development of national security policy. He also acquired operational leadership experience as Commander of EUFOR Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Major General (ret.) Stefan Schulz holds a degree in Business Administration and Organizational Sciences, completed the German General Staff Course, and pursued postgraduate studies at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
