Expert talk on financing sustainable peace and development: Spotlight on fragile and conflict-affected countries
The gap between extremely fragile and non-fragile contexts has widened. Peacebuilding funding in fragile and conflict-affected contexts is concurrently at a 15-year low and access to private investments reduced. Fragile countries, however, are the ones which are most in need of investment that can unlock their potential for addressing the root causes of conflict and fragility. At the same time, there is an ongoing debate on the financing of SDGs in Germany and on the international level. Therefore, this expert talk will particularly focus on the financing of sustainable peace and development.
FriEnt is a member of the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) – a global network of civil society organisations supporting peacebuilding efforts in fragile and conflict affected settings. We are very happy to have two of our international partners joining us to contribute their perspectives and expertise on this topic:
- Musa Ansumana Soko, Member of the Executive Committee & National Focal Point in Sierra Leone, Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding
- Veronica Stratford-Tuke, Head of Peace Economies, International Alert
We will have two inputs followed by a joint reflection and discussion. You are cordially invited to join the exchange. We are looking forward to your contributions!
