The Co-chairs of the Advisory Board to the Federal Government Civilian Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding, Dr. Julia Leininger and Bodo von Borries, analyze the Federal Government's planned National Security Council in their current guest article “Wehrhaftigkeit allein schafft keine Sicherheit” (Defence alone does not create security) at ZEIT ONLINE.
They emphasize that military defence can only be effective in the long term if it is systematically linked to civilian crisis prevention and both – military defence and civilian crisis prevention – contribute to securing peace in Europe in a complementary manner. An important impulse for security policy reorientation in times of geopolitical upheaval.
