Julia Leininger’s research and policy advice focuses on democracy development, societal peace and political futures. The regional focus of her work is on Africa.
She heads the research programme “Transformations of Political (Dis)Order: Institutions, Values and Peace” at IDOS (formerly German Development Institute, DIE).
Previous positions include advising the United Nations Development Programme in Mali, working at the Goethe Institute in Santiago de Chile, and her PhD at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt. She is a member of the board of the Development and Peace Foundation until the end of 2023.
