Article on Peace Mediation by Luxshi Vimalarajah

“Peace rarely comes through big leaps. Instead, it takes many small steps—and many courageous people.”

While such efforts often receive less public attention, they can play a crucial role in keeping channels of communication open, exploring new avenues for action, and facilitating gradual rapprochement.

Furthermore, in the interview, Ms. Vimalarajah highlights the growing role of non-state mediators against the backdrop of increasing geopolitical tensions: More and more often, parties to a conflict are turning to impartial third parties to open channels of dialogue outside of official negotiation formats.
