Co-Chair of the Advisory Board at the Subcommittee on United Nations, International Organisations and Civilian Crisis Prevention

Co-Chair of the Advisory Board Lars Wagner, Deputy Commissioner Crime (retired), was invited as an expert to the Subcommittee of the Bundestag on United Nations, International Organisations and Civilian Crisis Prevention.

On 8 November, the Co-Chair of the Advisory Board, Lars Wagner, took part in the subcommittee meeting on “Civilian police missions as a contribution to crisis prevention”. He emphasised the connection between police missions abroad and domestic security in Germany – also with regard to increasing global crises and their effects (such as climate change). In an exchange with members of the Bundestag, he clearly spoke in favour of an increased German involvement in international police missions, as set out in the National Security Strategy (p. 42). He advocated binding planning targets (as set out in the coalition agreement on p. 117) and a possible amendment to the Police Tasks Act.
