First Impressions of the Berlin Peace Dialogue 2026

The international framework for civilian conflict management and peacebuilding is undergoing fundamental change: the number of wars and violent conflicts worldwide is rising, while geopolitical tensions, shifts in global power and the growing fragmentation of the international order are calling existing partnerships into question. Yet effective approaches to conflict management can only be developed and implemented together with reliable partners.

The question of upcoming partnerships is at the heart of this year’s Berlin Peace Dialogue at the Federal Foreign Office, held under the title “Strategic Partnerships, Civilian Conflict Management, and Peacebuilding in a Multipolar World”.

The Berlin Peace Dialogue 2026 offers an important platform to discuss sustainable partnerships, suitable instruments and new forms of cooperation, as well as how peacebuilding can respond equally to global and local challenges. Once again, the Advisory Board to the German Federal Government for Civilian Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding brings together experts from politics, academia, think tanks and civil society across ministries and borders. In two panels and four policy dialogues, participants take a joint look at the future of German and international peace policy in a multipolar world.

Here you can find our first impressions of the conference. More photos and videos, as well as the graphic recording, will soon be available on the event website of the Berlin Peace Dialogue 2026.
