Dr Melanie Coni-Zimmer is Project Leader and Senior Research Fellow on the International Institutions programme at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF), part of the Leibniz Association. She has been a member of the Advisory Board since 2018. Together with Ginger Schmitz, she coordinates the Peace Policy Coherence within Germany’s Africa Policy project, and together with Dr Sonja Schiffers, the Gender, Peace and Security project.

Dr Melanie Coni-Zimmer’s research focuses on non-governmental actors in international politics and international economic organisations, as well as topics related to development cooperation and peace consolidation.

The PRIF is one of the leading peace research institutes in Europe; it is based in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). The institute analyses the causes of international and national conflicts. In so doing, the PRIF combines basic research with knowledge transfer into politics, media and society. Its core themes are arms control and disarmament, conflicts around international norms, regimes and organisations, military and non-military interventions, peace consolidation, democratisation, radicalisation and political violence.
