Dr Sonja Katharina Schiffers heads the South Caucasus office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Tbilisi, Georgia. She has been a member of the Advisory Board since 2018. She coordinates the project on Conflict Management in Eastern Europe and together with Dr Melanie Coni-Zimmer the Gender, Peace and Security project.
Dr Sonja Schiffers completed a doctorate at the FU Berlin on the illiberal influence of Russia and Turkey in Georgia and Bosnia. She has previously worked, as an advisor in the Bundestag, as a visiting scholar at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, as well as a voluntary director of the programme Gender and International Politics for Polis180.
