Ginger Schmitz is Managing Director of the German Platform for Peaceful Conflict Management, an open network for promoting civil conflict management in Germany. She has been a member of the Advisory Board since 2018, and coordinates the Peace Policy Coherence within Germany’s Africa Policy project together with Dr Melanie Coni-Zimmer.

Since April 2018, Ginger Schmitz has been directing the office of the German Platform for Peaceful Conflict Management. Before her appointment to this role, she was, inter alia, a research assistant to members of the German Bundestag on matters of civilian crisis prevention, peacebuilding and humanitarian aid. She studied political science, ethnology and sociology and has been active in peace policy for many years.

The German Platform for Peaceful Conflict Management is the central network for promoting civil conflict management in German-speaking countries. Since its founding in 1998, it has been interlinking and strengthening the civil society peace community and representing it in the political arena.
