Subcommittee on United Nations, International Organizations and Civilian Crisis Prevention invites the Chair of the Advisory Board

On 12 June, the Subcommittee on United Nations, International Organizations and Civilian Crisis Prevention convened for the 24th time to discuss, among other things, the status of the further development of the guidelines "Preventing Crises, Resolving Conflicts, Promoting Peace". The Advisory Board is monitoring the implementation and ongoing development process of the guidelines adopted by the German government in 2017.

As part of the consultation process with academia and civil society, the Advisory Board was invited to the Subcommittee on United Nations, International Organizations and Civilian Crisis Prevention under the Committee on Foreign Affairs. A report by Minister of State Lindner was followed by a space for dialogue on the status of the further development process, during which the Advisory Board chairpersons were able to share their expertise with the committee members.

The guidelines have strategically raised the Federal Government’s work in the field of civil crisis prevention and peacebuilding to a new level. However, the global situation has changed significantly since they were adopted. The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the national security strategy adopted in 2023 and a multiple crisis situation have all led to the need for a substantial revision of the previous guidelines.
