Advisory Board meeting
with ministerial representatives
at GIZ
In early June, the Advisory Board members and ministerial representatives came together for their quarterly meeting to discuss internal planning steps as well as broader current developments and future scenarios in the field of civilian crisis prevention.
The first day kicked off with a roundtable discussion with representatives of the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS). The co-chairs of the CSPPS, Elizabeth Hume and Gwendolyn Myers, emphasized the primacy of prevention and the role of youth in peace processes. The discussion with the international guests also dealt with the changes in the geopolitical space and the positive role of the German guidelines “Preventing Crises, Resolving Conflicts, Promoting Peace”, whose implementation and current review process the Advisory Board has been supporting since their adoption in 2017.
The second day began with an input from GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), which also provided the venue for the Advisory Board meeting, on the National Security Strategy in practice and GIZ’s role as an implementing organization. The Advisory Board expresses its appreciation to GIZ for providing the premises and for the pleasant atmosphere.
